The site is located within the traditional market area of the ancient city of Seoul , and it stands as the East Gate entry of the 600 year old walled city. This is the place where diversity and multiplicity coexist. In 2005, the cheongyecheon river was rescued and opened to the public. A 5.8km long intervention framing the site, to which an estimate of 12 billion usd dollar is expected to be invested upon.
To discern the existing programmatic conditions of the dongdaemun area, by capturing the program in its manifold. The program is found, multiplied, enhanced, introduced can it be prescribed? Does the dongdaemun area in Seoul accept anything? Can it be filled with anything or better yet everything? Can it grow? Is the program breeding itself? Turning into something new by mixing, layering, stacking and blurring each other? Can we prescribe this? Does it have the need to be prescribed?
In its hetero nature, the dongdaemun area is to behold a random specific, the perfect setting to host the non-gravitational. a random object implanted within an abandoned ring that can still respond to the precision in which the site is already operating; a non bound condition of coalitions, blurriness, pressures, amalgams and interstitial typologies.
